Pittsburgh outlasts Cleveland, 3-2Canfield Ice Arena Sat, Mar 03, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The game between the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins and the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Pittsburgh emerged with a 3-2 win. The Jr. Penguins gained the winning advantage on a goal by Ryan McAloon 8:06 into the third period and hung on until final buzzer. Pittsburgh was paced by McAloon, who tallied one goal. The Jr. Penguins stifled Cleveland's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Pittsburgh forced the Jr. Lumberjacks goalie Lawrence Dvorak Jr to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Adam Steranko also scored for Pittsburgh. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Reed Gregory, who had one. Cleveland's offense operated below it season average. The Jr. Lumberjacks average 4.8 goals per game. Cleveland was helped by Jeff Monfils, who tallied one goal. Monfils scored 13:05 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Kevin Mansolill provided the assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Kyle Fink as well. More assists for Cleveland came via John Jeziorowski and Cameron Dimmitt, who each chipped in one. The Jr. Penguins' Sean Keating stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Pittsburgh incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Lawrence Dvorak Jr made 30 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks on 33 shots. Cleveland incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
