Peoria falls to Chicago in overtime, 3-2 (OT)Owens Rec Ctr Fri, Mar 02, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Chicago Hitmen pulled out a 3-2 (OT) overtime victory over the Peoria Mustangs on a clutch goal by Mike Lozano. Lozano was all over the ice for Chicago, as he had two goals in the win. Lozano's tallies came at 8:12 into the third period to make the score 2-2 and 3:13 into the fourth to make the score 3-2 Chicago. The Hitmen kept Peoria's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Parda made 38 saves on 41 shots. Chicago also got a goal from Nick Gnagni as well. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Collin Warner, who had two and Phil Garza, Damen Fera, and Josh Baker, who contributed one a piece. The Mustangs put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Chicago to score on any of its four power plays. Peoria was helped by Darren Schlueter, who racked up one goal. Schlueter scored 5:43 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. Byron Lomow provided the assist. Nathan Chasteen also scored for Peoria. More assists for Peoria came via Alexander Turin and Jonathon Stevanovich, who each chipped in one. Joe Olen rejected 25 shots on goal for the Hitmen. Chicago incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. The Mustangs incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
