Michael Melka netted the deciding goal for the Peoria Mustangs in the shootout as Mustangs prevailed over the St. Louis Jr. Blues, 4-3 (3-2 SO). The two teams needed 16 turns to complete the shootout. St. Louis' shootout goals were scored by Patrick Gregory and Daniel Rosse. In addition to the clincher, Peoria got shootout goals from Josh Wentz and Jonathon Stevanovich.The Mustangs overcame a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Peoria fell behind 3-2 after a goal by the Jr. Blues' Philip Lux at 15:41 in the third period. The Mustangs tied things up at 3-3 on a goal by Cameron Brown at 18:31 in the third period. Alexander Turin had two goals and one assist to lead Peoria. Turin scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 12:48 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Peoria. The Mustangs had gained a power play chance when Marek Tonhauser was whistled for tripping. Michael Mikulan picked up the assist. Turin's next tally on the power play made the score 2-2 with 12:55 left in the third period. Blake Ortman provided the assist. St. Louis was unable to stop Peoria from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mustangs eventually piled up 44 shots on goal. Peoria additionally got points from Turin, who also had two goals and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Nathan Chasteen, who had two. The Jr. Blues found themselves short handed often, totaling 16 penalty minutes and allowing eight power plays.
