Behind a great game by Collin Warner, who had two goals, the Chicago Hitmen defeated the Quad City Jr. Flames, 5-2. Warner's tallies came short handed at 11:50 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Chicago and short handed 13:01 into the third to make the score 5-2 Chicago.Chicago stifled Quad City's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Nick Gnagni also scored for Chicago. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Michael Wright, Phil Garza, Tom Ketelsen, Cody Warner, Ben Boukal, and Luc Fournier, who contributed one a piece and Jeremy Edwards and Josh Baker, who each chipped in two. The Jr. Flames managed to stay out of the box better than usual, racking up one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Quad City finished below its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The Hitmen were unable to stop the Jr. Flames from sending pucks towards the net, and Quad City eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. The Jr. Flames were helped by Jared Fielden, who grabbed one goal. Fielden scored 9:11 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Chicago. Drake Fisher provided the assist. Quad City also got a goal from Anthony Caroselli as well. More assists for Quad City came via Peter Coppola and Tony Buchal, who contributed one a piece. Joe Olen rejected 36 shots on goal for Chicago. The Hitmen incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tanner Jones took the loss and made 11 saves before being replaced by Michael Meadows who made eight saves. Quad City registered zero goals on four power play opportunities.
