Richard Jansson lifted the Flint Jr. Generals to an 8-3 victory with a hat trick against the Toledo Cherokee. Jansson notched his first tally 8:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:09 into the first and at 19:16 into the first.Toledo's 24 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Cherokee let up five goals while on the penalty kill. Flint was often in penalty trouble, totaling 18 minors and three majors for 131 minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Generals had been averaging 31 minutes in penalties per game. Toledo was unable to stop Flint from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jr. Generals eventually piled up 35 shots on goal. Flint bested its season scoring average. This season, the Jr. Generals average four goals per contest. Flint also got points from Derek Compeau, who also had one goal and two assists, Jansson, who also registered three goals and one assist, and Andrew Lay, who also racked up one goal and four assists. Joshua Kestner also scored for Flint. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Edward Osowski, who had one and Cody Damon, who had three. The Cherokee forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 18 minors and six majors for 206 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 32 minutes per game Toledo had been spending in the box. The Cherokee's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 31 shots put on Flint's net. Toledo was helped by Mike Baker, who finished with one goal. Baker scored 6:34 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Toledo. Ryan Kelly picked up the assist. Toledo got a goal from Jake Manders as well. More assists for Toledo came via Joe Skrzynski, Austin Fletcher, and Parker Hack, who each chipped in one. Dominic Orlando made 28 saves for the Jr. Generals on 31 shots. For Flint, Kestner and Phillip Ballard were ejected from the contest. Austyn Roudebush turned away 27 pucks between the pipes for the Cherokee. Toledo registered one goal on eight power play opportunities. Team's Sean Gregory and Derek Britton were slapped with misconducts and ejected from the game.
