The Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins' Bryan Hovanec had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over the Queen City Steam. Hovanec's tallies came at 21 seconds into the second period to make the score 3-1 Pittsburgh and 10:30 into the second to make the score 4-1 Pittsburgh.Queen City's power play was ineffective against Pittsburgh's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded. Both teams had a hard time staying out of the box, and they combined for 15 penalties during the game. Pittsburgh got a goal from Ryan McAloon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were Alexander Lysyuk, who had one and Nicholas Randazzo, who had two. Queen City's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 32 shots put on Pittsburgh's net. The Steam found themselves short handed often, totaling 36 penalty minutes and allowing six power plays. The leading offender was Taylor Penman, who totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one misconduct. Queen City was helped by Zachary Newman, who had one goal. Newman scored 10:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Pittsburgh. Zachary Barngrover provided the assist. Eric Woodward also scored for Queen City. More assists for Queen City came via Trevor Voelker, who had one. Tyler Stepke recorded 30 saves for the Jr. Penguins.
