Metro rolls over Battle Creek, 8-3

The Metro Jets had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Battle Creek Jr. Revolution.

Trevor Bardallis had two goals and one assist to lead Metro. Bardallis scored the first of his two goals short handed at 14:08 into the second period to make the score 6-2 Metro. The Jets played down a man on Steve Klisz's unsportsmanlike conduct. Justin Shureb provided the assist. Bardallis' next tally short handed made the score 7-3 Metro with 10:41 left in the third period. Doug Andrews assisted on the tally.

Metro's penalty kill excelled, as the Jets gave up one goal despite allowing seven power plays.

Battle Creek was unable to stop Metro from sending pucks towards the net, and the Jets eventually piled up 51 shots on goal. Metro's goal total was higher than its season average. The Jets have scored at the pace of four goals per game during the current campaign. Metro was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 20 penalty minutes. The leading offender was John Baker, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Metro additionally got points from Klisz, who also registered one goal and one assist, Bardallis, who also racked up two goals and one assist, Tommy Kilgore, who also had one goal and one assist, and Andrews, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Adam Reid also scored for Metro. More assists for Metro came via Max Biggings and Andrew Shalawylo, who contributed one each and Will Shier, Mike MacKinnon, and Matt Stirling, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Revolution forced the Jets goalie Dillon Kelley to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots. Battle Creek found itself short handed often, totaling 14 penalty minutes and allowing two power plays. The leading offender was Mike Murphy, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors.

The Jr. Revolution were led by Tim Wlodkowski, who registered one goal and one assist. Wlodkowski scored 11:43 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Metro. Battle Creek also got points from Wlodkowski, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Battle Creek got a goal from Joey Lioy as well. In addition, Battle Creek received assists from Conner Westbrook, who had one.

Dillon Kelley made 30 saves for Metro on 33 shots. Matthew Hughes recorded 43 saves for Battle Creek.
