The Queen City Steam tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Flint Jr. Generals would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2. Flint took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Queen City storm back on a Lucas McCammant goal 18:02 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Steam's power play was ineffective against the Jr. Generals' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded. Flint forced Queen City goalie Joey Rebedew to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots. The Jr. Generals found themselves short handed often, totaling 26 penalty minutes and allowing seven power plays. The leading offender was Lucas McDiarimid, who totaled 12 minutes in penalty time with one minor and one misconduct. Flint was helped by Brent Formosa, who finished with one goal. Formosa scored on the power play 3:31 into the third period to make the score Flint. The Jr. Generals earned a power play opportunity when Niels Olesen was put in the box for slashing. Hayden Hanson picked up the assist. Edward Osowski also scored for Flint.
