Keating, Pittsburgh blank Toledo, 3-0

Sean Keating was superb between the pipes for the Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Toledo Cherokee.

Pittsburgh was led by Ethan Martin, who racked up one goal. Martin scored on the power play 3:45 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Pittsburgh. The Jr. Penguins had taken the advantage when Toledo's Trevor Ruiz got sent off for hooking. Nico Vecchio picked up the assist.

Pittsburgh put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Cherokee to score on any of their four power plays. The Jr. Penguins kept Toledo's goalie busy throughout the game, and Lukas Gavalier made 34 saves on 37 shots.

Pittsburgh additionally got points from Alexander Lysyuk, who also registered one goal and one assist. Pittsburgh got a goal from Jesse Grossman as well. Other players who recorded assists for Pittsburgh were James Muncie, Ryan McAloon, and David Mnatsyan, who each chipped in one.

The Cherokee's offense operated below they season average. Toledo averages four goals per game. The Cherokee could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 40 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Mareks Kepals, who totaled 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors.

Sean Keating made 28 saves for Pittsburgh on 28 shots. The Jr. Penguins incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
