Mike MacKinnon lifted the Metro Jets to a 6-3 victory with a hat trick against the Michigan Mountain Cats.

MacKinnon notched his first tally 13:35 into the second period. He then added goals at 18:42 into the second and at 10:23 into the third.

Metro made the most of it opportunities with a man advantage, slotting home two goals while Michigan was on the penalty kill.

The Jets forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and one major for 33 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21 minutes per game Metro had been spending in the box. The Jets kept the Mountain Cats' goalie busy throughout the game, and Schuyler Ferguson made 48 saves on 54 shots.

Metro additionally got points from MacKinnon, who also finished with three goals and three assists, Steve Klisz, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Matt Stemkoski, who also racked up one goal and one assist.
