Jablin's big game bests Chicago in 6-3 St. Louis win

Behind a great game by Trace Jablin, who had one goal and two assists, the St. Louis Jr. Blues defeated the Chicago Hitmen, 6-3.

Jablin beat Brandon Perillo with a shot 16:19 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Johnny Mueller assisted on the tally. Jablin dished an assist on Joe Bowler's goal that made the score 5-2 St. Louis at 18:26 into the second period. He added another helper on Mueller's goal that made the score 6-3 St. Louis at 5:58 into the third period.

St. Louis' offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 35 shots put on Chicago's net. The Jr. Blues' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to the Hitmen's power play unit. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

St. Louis also got points from Mueller, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Robert Hintz, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jablin, who also tallied one goal and two assists, and Philip Lux, who also finished with one goal and one assist. St. Louis got a goal from Jordan Deckard as well. More assists for St. Louis came via Daniel Rosse, who had two and Andy Thurby and Bobby Brown, who contributed one each.

Chicago forced St. Louis goalie Clint Steinmeyer to work between the pipes, taking 33 shots.

The Hitmen were led by Mike Lozano, who racked up one goal and one assist. Lozano scored on the power play 1:48 into the third period to make the score 5-3 St. Louis. Jeremy Edwards picked up the assist. Chicago additionally got points from Lozano, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Nick Gnagni also scored for Chicago. Other players who recorded assists for Chicago were Damen Fera, Collin Warner, Luc Fournier, and Kyle Gonzalez, who each chipped in one.

Steinmeyer recorded 30 saves for the Jr. Blues. St. Louis totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Chicago's Perillo stopped 29 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Hitmen ended with 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
