Barber leads Wenatchee over Kenai River, 5-2

The Wenatchee Wild's Jacob Barber had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 5-2 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears.

Barber scored 18:09 into the third period to make the score 5-2 Wenatchee. Blake Saylor picked up the assist. Barber dished an assist on Max McHugh's goal that made the score 2-2 at 9:49 into the second period. He added another helper on Tyler Rostenkowski's goal that made the score 4-2 Wenatchee at 13:23 into the second period.

Wenatchee excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. The Wild surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Wenatchee has scored at the pace of two goals per game during the current campaign.

Wenatchee got a goal from Jerad Tafoya as well. More assists for Wenatchee came via Kyle Huson, Evan Schmidbauer, Michael Lant, Chris Kerr, Shawn Pauly, and Parker Johnson, who each chipped in one.

Kenai River stifled the Wild's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Brown Bears were helped by Marek Hemsky, who tallied one goal. Hemsky scored 15:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Kenai River. Brett Lubanski assisted on the tally. Raymond Stenehjem also scored for Kenai River. In addition, Kenai River received assists from Vincent Stefan, Chris Blessing, and Bobby Murphy, who contributed one each.

Robert Nichols recorded 21 saves for Wenatchee. The Wild incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Kenai River's starting goalie, Austin Severson, made 17 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Gabe Grunwald, who stopped seven shots. The Brown Bears incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
