Huge game by Kalisz boosts St. Louis over Michigan, 6-1

Joe Kalisz had two goals and four assists to lead the St. Louis Bandits to a 6-1 victory over the Michigan Warriors.

Kalisz found the back of the net 1:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Louis and again while 18:35 into the second to make the score 4-0 St. Louis.

St. Louis surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Bandits have scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. The 44 shots that St. Louis put on net surpassed the Bandits' average of 28 shots per game this season.

Michigan stifled St. Louis' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Warriors failed to reach their usual level of shot production, putting 18 pucks on goal after averaging 25 shots per game this season. Michigan could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 14 minutes in penalties during the game. The leading offender was Matus Matis, who totaled two minutes in penalty time with one minor.

St. Louis also got points from Greg Johnson, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Rance Hughes also scored for St. Louis. In addition, St. Louis received assists from Josh Dangel, who had one and Joseph Birmingham, who had four.

The Warriors were led by Chris Eckler, who scored the team's only goal. Eckler scored 13:46 into the third period to make the score 5-1 St. Louis. Michael Economos provided the assist.

Michigan put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bandits to score on any of their six power plays.

St. Louis' Tyler Green stopped 17 shots out of the 18 that he faced. The Bandits incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Michigan's starting goalie, Trevor Gorsuch, made 31 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Brach Tiller, who stopped seven shots. The Warriors registered zero goals on two power play opportunities.
