Alexandria uses special teams to gain 5-1 win against Bismarck

The Alexandria Blizzard converted on their power play opporunities to upend the Bismarck Bobcats by a score of five to one.

Alexandria was led by Dylan Zink, who registered one goal and one assist. Zink scored 15:04 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Nick DeCenzo provided the assist.

The Blizzard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Bismarck power plays. The 34 shots that Alexandria put on net surpassed the Blizzard's average of 29 shots per game this season.

Alexandria additionally got points from Tucker Coborn, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Zink, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Alexandria got a goal from Gage Torrel as well. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Craig Lindegard, who had two and Jordan Krebsbach, Vadim Gyesbreghs, Thomas Williams, Nick DAvolio, and Hayden Trupp, who each chipped in one.

Bismarck could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Bobcats put an average of four pucks into the net per game. Bismarck's penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Alexandria's power play unit. The Bobcats gave up more goals than its normal season average. Bismarck is averaging two goals against for the season. The Bobcats' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 14 shots on net during the game.

Bismarck was led by Ryan Callahan, who scored the team's only goal. Callahan scored 2:06 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bismarck. Jeremy OKeefe assisted on the tally.

The Blizzard's Jacob Meyers stopped 23 shots out of the 24 that he faced. Alexandria incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Tommy Burke recorded 29 saves for the Bobcats. Bismarck incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
