Alexandria holds on for 4-2 win against BismarckVFW Sports Center Fri, Feb 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Bismarck Bobcats tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Alexandria Blizzard would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. A goal by Seth Ronsberg put Alexandria up 4-1 in the second period, but Bismarck pulled to within two on Tyler Richter's tally 5:28 into the third period. Ronsberg was all over the ice for the Blizzard, as he finished with two goals in the win. Alexandria made opposing netminders to work and stay ready, launching 33 shots and forcing 29 saves. Aaron Nelson made 21 stops and Tommy Burke made eight. The Blizzard's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on six Bismarck power plays. Alexandria also got points from Justin Moody, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Reid Sturos also scored for Alexandria. Other players who recorded assists for Alexandria were Aidan Cavallini, who had two and Vadim Gyesbreghs, Nick DAvolio, Hayden Trupp, and Charlie Aus, who contributed one each. By firing 37 shots on goal, the Bobcats exceeded the 33 shots they average per game this year. Bismarck was helped by Francis DeAugustine, who racked up one goal. DeAugustine scored 13:22 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Alexandria. Adam Knochenmus assisted on the tally. In addition, Bismarck received assists from Grant Mindt, Bryce Anderson, and Castan Sommer, who each chipped in one. Jacob Meyers made 35 saves for Alexandria on 37 shots. The Blizzard incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Bobcats incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
