Carleton Place downs Kanata, 5-2Carleton Place Arena Sat, Mar 10, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Kyle Phillips registered two points to lead the Carleton Place Canadians to a 5-2 victory over the Kanata Stallions. In the losing effort, Kanata was sparked by Devin Cobbold, who racked up two goals. Cobbold scored the first of his two goals at 5:57 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Brandon Petrie picked up the assist. Cobbold's next tally made the score 2-1 Kanata with 11:33 left in the second period. Carleton Place stifled the Stallions' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Canadians' offense rang up 48 shots on Kanata's net. Carleton Place also got points from Shayne Morrissey, who also tallied one goal and two assists, Luke Martin, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Stephen Bayliss, who also registered one goal and one assist. Daniel Kolenda also scored for Carleton Place. In addition, Carleton Place received assists from Christian Weidauer, who had one and Jay Llewelyn and Anthony McVeigh, who contributed two a piece. Other players who recorded assists for Kanata were Fabian Walsh, who had one. Brodie Barrick made seven saves before being replaced by Alex Daley, who took the win and made six saves. Carleton Place totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. The Canadians ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Luke Edwards was ejected from the game. The Stallions' Brock Crossthwaite stopped 43 shots out of the 48 that he faced. Kanata incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. For the Stallions, Tim Kavanaugh was ejected from the game.
