Neil leads Nepean over Kanata, 6-1

Kenneth Neil had two goals and two assists to lead the Nepean Raiders to a 6-1 victory over the Kanata Stallions.

Neil scored at 8:55 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Nepean and again while on the power play 11:23 into the third to make the score 6-1 Nepean.

Nepean was led by goalie Matt Zawadzki, who finished with 26 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Zawadzki will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.33.

The Raiders managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Nepean ended up below its season average of 12.0 penalty minutes per game. The Raiders kept Kanata's goalie busy throughout the game, and Brandon Lane made 36 saves on 42 shots.

Nepean also got points from Craig Cowie, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Nepean also got a goal from Alex ODea as well. Other players who recorded assists for Nepean were Ryan Johnston, who had two, Ryan MacLean, who had three, and Mike Milito, Dalen Hedges, Brandon Watt, and Brent Norris, who each chipped in one.

The Stallions' offense operated below they season average. Kanata puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game.

Nepean registered two goals on four power play opportunities. The Stallions incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
