Brockville rides Pikul to victory over Hawkesbury, 4-1Robert Hartley Sports Complex1 Sun, Feb 26, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Andrew Pikul stood on his head and made 37 saves to lead the Brockville Braves to a 4-1 victory over the Hawkesbury Hawks. Brockville was led by Owen Gill, who racked up one goal. Gill scored 6:49 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Brockville. Taylor Henry provided the assist. Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 4:11 into the third period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with two game misconducts. The Braves' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Hawkesbury power plays. Brockville kept Hawkesbury's goalie busy throughout the game, and Carmine Guerriero made 28 saves on 32 shots. The Braves were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one majorfor 17 minutes in penalty time. The leading offender was Brandon Anselmini, who totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major. Ben Blasko also scored for Brockville. In addition, Brockville received assists from Mike DeBello, who had two and David Ferreira, Kenny Matheson, Hayden Hulton, David Roy, and Nathan Todd, who contributed one each. The Hawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Hawkesbury could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Hawks average three goals per game. Brockville was unable to stop Hawkesbury from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 38 shots on goal. Hawkesbury was led by Ty Perry, who scored the team's only goal. Perry scored 32 seconds into the third period to make the score 2-1 Brockville. Brett Costello assisted on the tally. The Braves ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Anselmini was ejected from the game. The Hawks ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. For Hawkesbury, Yanik Laliberte and Brandon Bussey were ejected from the contest.
