Bussey's hat trick boosts Hawkesbury over Smiths Falls, 6-1Robert Hartley Sports Complex1 Sun, Feb 19, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
A hat trick by Brandon Bussey was the highlight in Hawks' 6-1 win against the Smiths Falls Bears. Bussey notched his first tally 6:02 into the first period. He then added goals at 2:52 into the second and at 15:01 into the third.Smiths Falls trailed by one after the first period, but the Hawkesbury Hawks went into the second intermission with a 5-1 lead and never looked back. Hawkesbury's Michael Comitini was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 36 saves and let only one puck past him. Comitini managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.0 prior to the game. The Hawks stifled the Bears' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Smiths Falls was unable to stop Hawkesbury from sending pucks towards the net, and the Hawks eventually piled up 34 shots on goal. Hawkesbury outdid its season average for goals scored. The Hawks have scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. Hawkesbury found itself short handed often, totaling 18 penalty minutes and allowing nine power plays. The leading offender was Stefano Momesso, who totaled four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Hawkesbury also got points from Stephen Hrehoriak, who also finished with two goals and one assist and Yanik Laliberte, who also registered one goal and two assists. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Philippe Saviuk, Sebastian Meltzer, Brett Costello, and Anthony Sanniti, who each chipped in one and Remi Elie and Carl Faucher, who contributed two each. The Bears could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Smiths Falls averages three goals per game. The Bears forced the Hawks goalie Comitini to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots. Smiths Falls was led by Dean Galasso, who scored the team's only goal. Galasso scored 4:01 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Smiths Falls. Cole Allard assisted on the tally. Hawkesbury registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Mackenzie Sawyer made 28 saves for the Bears on 34 shots. Smiths Falls incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
