The Pembroke Lumber Kings tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Cornwall Colts held on for a 2-1 victory. Cornwall took a 2-0 lead during the second period, only to have Pembroke storm back on a Justin Stevens goal 3:24 into the third period to pull to one goal down. The Lumber Kings were stymied by the Colts netminder Lukas Hafner, who stopped 26 shots during the victory. The solid play of Hafner will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.13. Cornwall excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Colts kept Pembroke's goalie busy throughout the game, and Francis Dupuis made 32 saves on 34 shots. Cornwall stifled the Lumber Kings' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Colts were helped by Michael Borkowski, who finished with one goal. Borkowski scored 14:00 into the second period to make the score Cornwall. Michael Phillips assisted on the tally. Tylor Spink also scored for Cornwall. More assists for Cornwall came via Stephen Johnson, Kyle Baun, and Marly Quince, who contributed one each. Cornwall got a goal from Spink as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cornwall were. Cornwall incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Pembroke incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Colts registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
