Huge game by Pitt boosts Ottawa over Kanata, 4-1Jim Durrell Complex-Peplinski Sat, Jan 21, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Ottawa Senators' Josh Pitt had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 4-1 win over the Kanata Stallions. Pitt scored 18:21 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Ottawa. Drew Anderson provided the assist. Pitt dished an assist on Ryan Crosson's goal that made the score 3-1 Ottawa at 13:35 into the third period. He added another helper on Conor Brown's goal that made the score 4-1 Ottawa at 19:56 into the third period.Ottawa's offense efficiently hummed along to the tune of 50 shots put on Kanata's net. Ottawa also got points from Pitt, who also grabbed one goal and two assists and Brown, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Ben Robillard also scored for Ottawa. Other players who recorded assists for Ottawa were Liam Burtt, Deric Boudreau, and Max Fiedler, who each chipped in one. The Stallions put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Senators to score on any of their three power plays. Kanata could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Stallions put an average of three pucks into the net per game. Kanata was led by Curtis Watson, who scored the team's only goal. Watson scored 19:59 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Ottawa. Devin Cobbold assisted on the tally. Ed Zdolshek turned away 24 pucks between the pipes for Ottawa. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Stallions' Brandon Lane stopped 46 shots out of the 49 that he faced. Kanata incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
