The Ottawa Senators pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Kemptville 73s on a clutch goal by Ben Robillard. Ottawa nearly gave up a two-score lead. The Senators made it 5-3 on a goal by Drew Anderson at 16:53 in the second period. Kemptville got to within 5-4 on a goal by Hiio Herne at 5:56 in the third period. Ottawa was paced by Robillard, who tallied one goal and one assist. Robillard scored 2:20 into overtime to make the score 6-5 Ottawa. The Senators forced the 73s goalie Travis Wilkins to work between the pipes, taking 43 shots. Ottawa surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Senators have scored at the pace of three goals per game during the current campaign. Penalties took their toll on Ottawa, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. Ottawa also got points from Deric Boudreau, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Devon Rice, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Anderson, who also racked up one goal and two assists, and Robillard, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Liam Burtt also scored for Ottawa. More assists for Ottawa came via Ryan Crosson, Mathieu Desautels, and Max Fiedler, who contributed one each. Kemptville stifled the Senators' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The 73s outdid their season average for goals scored. This season, Kemptville averages two goals per contest. The 73s were led by Josh Pitt, who grabbed two goals and one assist. Pitt scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 6:29 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kemptville had gained a power play chance when Conor Brown was whistled for head contact. Ben Hutton provided the assist. Pitt's next tally on the power play made the score 5-5 with 13:03 left in the third period. Blaine Byron picked up the assist. Kemptville additionally got points from Pitt, who also tallied two goals and one assist. Kemptville got a goal from Matt Rosebrook as well. Other players who recorded assists for Kemptville were Nevin Guy, Jesse Lussier, Eric Malloy, and Lucas Gonu, who each chipped in one. Ed Zdolshek recorded 15 saves for Ottawa. The Senators incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The 73s' Wilkins stopped 37 shots out of the 43 that he faced. Kemptville ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. The 73s ran into disciplinary problems during the contest, and Rosebrook was ejected from the game.
