Wenatchee outlasts Alaska, 4-2MTA Events Center Fri, Apr 08, 2011 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wenatchee Wild and the Alaska Avalanche were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Wenatchee made the most of its opportunities and won, 4-2. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Max McHugh at 8:24 of the second period. The win by the Wild clinched the best of five series at 0-3. Wenatchee was sparked by Matt Cope, who tallied one goal. Cope scored 1:17 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Wenatchee. Cody Von Rueden assisted on the tally. Wenatchee also got points from Michael Di Puma, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Shawn Pauly also scored for Wenatchee. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from DJ Vandercook, Jacob Barber, Bradley Shumway, and Chris Rumble, who contributed one a piece. Alaska was helped by Eliot Grauer, who grabbed one goal. Grauer scored short handed 12:54 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Wenatchee. A cross checking call on Grant Dye put the Avalanche on the penalty kill. Matt Friese picked up the assist. Alaska also got a goal from Zach Smith as well. More assists for Alaska came via Daniel Senkbeil and Andy Pearson, who each chipped in one. Brandon Jaeger recorded 16 saves for the Wild. Wenatchee incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Landon Peterson made 23 saves for Alaska on 27 shots. The Avalanche incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
