Wenatchee rolls over Alaska, 4-1Town Toyota Center Fri, Apr 01, 2011 Story by Narrative Science.
The Alaska Avalanche had trouble finding ways to stop the Wenatchee Wild, which beat Avalanche, 4-1. The win gave Wenatchee a 1-0 lead in the best of five series. The Wild were led by DJ Vandercook, who had one goal. Vandercook scored 2:01 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Wenatchee. Shawn Pauly picked up the assist. Wenatchee kept Alaska's goalie busy throughout the game, and Landon Peterson made 33 saves on 37 shots. Wenatchee also got points from Michael Di Puma, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Tyler Hope also scored for Wenatchee. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Jacob Barber, who had two and Kyle Huson and Chris Rumble, who contributed one a piece. The Avalanche's defensemen bolstered Alaska's offensive attack, as they bombarded Brandon Jaeger with nine shots. Alaska also got a goal from Grant Dye as well. Other players who recorded assists for Alaska were Derek Whitehill and Joe Schmitz, who each chipped in one. The Wild's Jaeger stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Wenatchee incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. The Avalanche incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with 11 minors.
