Wenatchee uses shootout to best New Mexico, 3-2 (2-0 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the New Mexico Mustangs in a shootout 3-2 (2-0 SO).

The two teams needed eight turns to complete the shootout. Wenatchee also got a shootout goal from DJ Vandercook.

The Wild were paced by Shawn Pauly, who registered one goal. Pauly scored 7:32 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wenatchee. Hunter Brown picked up the assist.

Wenatchee was led by Pauly, who finished with one goal.

Wenatchee also got a goal from Vandercook as well. More assists for Wenatchee came via Tyler Hope, Max McHugh, and Carl-Johan Sjogren, who each chipped in one.

New Mexico failed to reach its usual level of shot production, putting 16 pucks on goal after averaging 21.4 shots per game this season.

The Mustangs were led by Zach Badalamenti, who grabbed two goals. Badalamenti scored the first of his two goals at 16:26 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Rob Heath assisted on the tally. Badalamenti's next tally made the score 2-2 with 3:46 left in the third period. Eli Riddle picked up the assist. Other players who recorded assists for New Mexico were James Poston, who had one.

The Wild's Brandon Jaeger stopped 14 shots out of the 16 that he faced. Wenatchee incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Marco Wieser rejected 21 shots on goal for New Mexico. The Mustangs incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
