Wenatchee vanquishes Fairbanks in shootout, 2-1 (3-2 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Wenatchee Wild defeated the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a shootout 2-1 (3-2 SO).

The shootout lasted for 14 attempts between the teams. Fairbanks got shootout goals from JT Osborn and Gabe Levin. Wenatchee's other shootout goals were scored by Mario Puskarich and DJ Vandercook.

The Wild came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. Wenatchee was down 1-0 after a goal by the Ice Dogs' Osborn at 15:57 in the second period. The Wild knotted things up at 1-1 on a goal by Puskarich at 19:22 in the third period.

Fairbanks was stymied by Wenatchee netminder Brandon Jaeger, who stopped 27 shots during the victory. Jaeger managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.28 prior to the game.

The Wild managed to stay out of the box better than usual, totaling one minor for two minutes in penalty time. Wenatchee ended up below its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The Wild put 33 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.8 they average per game.

In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Vandercook and Max McHugh, who each chipped in one.

The Ice Dogs could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Fairbanks averages 4.2 goals per game.

More assists for Fairbanks came via Jack Callahan and Brock Carlston, who contributed one a piece.

Wenatchee registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Joe Phillippi recorded 31 saves for the Ice Dogs. Fairbanks incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
