Alaska completes comeback, beats Wenatchee, 4-3

The Alaska Avalanche rallied from two goals down to secure a 4-3 win over the Wenatchee Wild.

Alaska never led in the game until netting the game winner. The Avalanche was down 2-0 after a goal by Wenatchee's DJ Vandercook at 6:58 in the second period. Alaska knotted things up at 3-3 on a power play goal by Blake Huppert at 18:58 in the third period. The Avalanche scored the game winner at 19:42 in the third period on a goal by Huppert.

In the losing effort, the Wild were sparked by Vandercook, who had two goals.

Alaska was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Avalanche surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The 43 shots that Alaska put on net surpassed the Avalanche's average of 29.0 shots per game this season.

Alaska was helped by Matt Friese, who tallied one goal. Zach Smith also scored for Alaska. Other players who recorded assists for Alaska were Cody Bisbing, Connor Wright, and Andy Pearson, who each chipped in one and Jake Williams and Daniel Senkbeil, who contributed two a piece.

Wenatchee struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as it finished the game with 23 penalty minutes for seven opposing power plays. The Wild's offense was clicking better than usual and put 39 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.9 shots per game they average.

Wenatchee also got a goal from Jacob Barber as well. More assists for Wenatchee came via Carl-Johan Sjogren, who had two and Richard Berzins, Mario Puskarich, Ben Carey, and Cody Von Rueden, who each chipped in one.

The Avalanche's Nick Kulmanovsky stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Greg Lewis rejected 39 shots on goal for Wenatchee. The Wild registered two goals on four power play opportunities.
