Wenatchee downs Dawson Creek, 4-1Town Toyota Center Sat, Feb 19, 2011 Story by Narrative Science.
Matt Cope racked up one point to lead the Wenatchee Wild to a 4-1 victory over the Dawson Creek Rage. The Wenatchee penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Wild had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Wenatchee stifled Dawson Creek's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. By firing 36 shots on goal, the Wild exceeded the 30.8 shots they average per game this year. Jacob Barber also scored for Wenatchee. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Chris Rumble, who had two and Michael Di Puma, DJ Vandercook, Evan Schmidbauer, and Tyler Hope, who contributed one a piece. The Rage racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 29.0 minutes per game Dawson Creek had been spending in the box. The Rage were led by Troy Petrick, who scored the team's only goal. Petrick scored 7:28 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Kevin Swales assisted on the tally. Brandon Jaeger recorded 18 saves for Wenatchee. The Wild registered two goals on eight power play opportunities. Wenatchee ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Schmidbauer was ejected from the game. Dawson Creek's Andrew Walsh stopped 32 shots out of the 35 that he faced. The Rage registered zero goals on four power play opportunities. For Dawson Creek, Bob Turnbull was ejected from the game.
