The Louisiana IceGators, who led by three goals at one point, survived a comeback attempt by Louisiana and clinched a 7-5 victory. The IceGators led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when Louisiana's Mike Omicioli's scored at 9:51 in the second period to put the IceGators up 3-0. Josh Bonar was all over the ice for Louisiana, as he had two goals in the win. Bonar scored on the power play at 15:04 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Louisiana and again while on the power play 10:01 into the third to make the score 4-4. The 29 shots that the IceGators put on net surpassed Louisiana's average of 22.2 shots per game this season. The IceGators surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Louisiana has scored at the pace of 3.1 goals per game during the current campaign. The IceGators' defensemen also contributed in the offensive zone and ended up with 12 shots between them. Louisiana additionally got points from Trevor Karasiewicz, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Nick Pernula, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Drew Baker, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. In addition, Louisiana received assists from Mike Ruberto, Paul McBrien, CJ Tozzo, Erik Kent, and Paul DAgostino, who contributed one a piece. The Knoxville Ice Bears relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Kevin Swider, Tim Vitek and B.J. Pelkey took 18 of the team's 34 shots. Knoxville also got points from Pelkey, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Knoxville also got a goal from Rich Zalewski as well. More assists for Knoxville came via Mark Van Vliet, Frank Furdero, and Donald Melnyk, who each chipped in one and Travis Martell and Taylor Hustead, who contributed two a piece. A J Bucchino rejected 29 shots on goal for Louisiana. The IceGators incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Chad Collins made 22 saves for Knoxville on 27 shots. The Ice Bears incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
