Carrick survives Kennedy Catholic comeback, wins 6-5

Kennedy Catholic tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but Carrick held on for a 6-5 victory.

Carrick made the score 5-3 on a goal by Jon Deresh at 4:50 in the third period, and Kennedy Catholic got as close as 5-4 when William Piacitelli scored 9:25 into the third period.

Carrick forced Kennedy Catholic goalie Anthony Covelli to work between the pipes, taking 42 shots. Carrick's defense was uncharacteristically lax during the game. Carrick gives up 1.5 goal per game.

Carrick was led by Jacob Speicher, who had three goals. Carrick also got points from Isaac Eubanks, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Liam Rubright, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Carrick came via Tyler Wolf, who had two and Aiden Barker and Tylan Tranter, who contributed one each.

Kennedy Catholic additionally got points from Darrin Smith, who also finished with one goal and two assists. In addition, Kennedy Catholic received assists from Max Hamilton, who had three.

Peter Kopko recorded 16 saves for Carrick. Carrick incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Anthony Covelli made 36 saves for Kennedy Catholic on 42 shots. Kennedy Catholic incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
