R Canadians outlasts R Hawks, 5-3

R Canadians gutted out a close 5-3 win against R Hawks.

R Canadians gained the winning advantage on a goal by Allen Platt 37 seconds into the second period and hung on until final buzzer.

Ken Wilkins had a great game for R Canadians, netting two goals. Wilkins' tallies came on the power play at 12:48 into the first period to make the score 3-2 R Canadians and 11:41 into the second to make the score 5-3 R Canadians.

R Canadians found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against R Hawks' defense. R Canadians did not rack up many penalties in the contest, registering only one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

R Canadians also got points from Platt, who also registered one goal and one assist and SUB PAYOTELLIS, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. R Canadians also got a goal from Joe Grusling as well. More assists for R Canadians came via John Perini, who had two and Jeff Tracy, Pat Chimel, Chris Zanke, and Pat Nielsen, who each chipped in one.

R Canadians' defense shut down R Hawks' forwards for much of the game, and R Hawks got off only 11 shots during the contest. R Hawks did not rack up many penalties in the contest, totaling just one minor for two minutes in penalty time.

R Hawks was led by Brian Belloli, who had one goal and one assist. Belloli scored on the power play 9:45 into the first period to make the score 2-1 R Canadians. R Hawks had gained a power play chance when Grusling was whistled for tripping. Ted Evans also scored for R Hawks. In addition, R Hawks received assists from Pat Collins, SB Ufer, and SB J Higgins, who contributed one a piece.

R Canadians' Kevin Beebe stopped eight shots out of the 11 that he faced. R Canadians registered two goals on one power play opportunities. John Marchin rejected eight shots on goal for R Hawks. R Hawks registered one goal on one power play opportunities.
