GENEVA, N.Y. – 2012 Geneva Twin Alex Juday of Jackson State University was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Baseball Tournament Most Valuable Player as he helped the Tigers claim the SWAC baseball title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Division I Men’s Baseball Regional.

In the SWAC championship game, Juday threw a complete game while striking out nine and walking just one.  He allowed two runs, which were both earned and gave up nine hits while facing 36 batters.  His performance allowed the Tigers to defeat Prairie View A&M, 6-2.

In the SWAC tournament, the sophomore right-hander threw 17 innings, picked up two wins, allowed three runs (two earned), 13 strikeouts and 13 hits while posting a 1.06 ERA.

Last summer, Juday pitched in 22 games (19 regular season and three playoff games) of relief for the Geneva Twins and finished with a 1.99 ERA.  He struck out 25 and walked six while picking up one save and allowing 21 hits in 31.2 innings of work last season in the New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL).  His efforts last summer allowed the Twins to claim the fourth seed in the NYCBL Western Division.

The Twins swept the number one seed the Hornell Dodgers in a best of three series in the first round of the NYBL playoffs. In the Western Division Semifinals, the Twins were swept 2-0 in a best of three series by the Niagara Power.

The 2013 Geneva Twins season starts on June 6 at home as the team faces off against the Rochester Ridgemen (AIA) at 7 p.m.
