Gulls Fall in Game Three of Semis
Date: Aug 7, 2025
The 2025 season has officially come to an end for the Blues, as they were shut out for the second postseason game in a row. On Saturday night, Bristol was eliminated by the Martha's Vineyard Sharks 6-0 at Vineyard Baseball Park.
James Pazdera (Ramapo) got the start for the Blues, tossing five and two-thirds innings with four runs and three strikeouts. Alexander Kasbarian (Central Connecticut) tossed one inning of relief, allowing a run. Robert Lasbury (Portal) allowed no runs in his one and a third innings pitched behind Kasbarian.
The Blues tallied only five hits as a team, with Gianno Merlonghi (Central Connecticut) recording a multi-hit game. Collectively, the Blues' lineup struck out 12 times on the night.
The Sharks delivered a crushing blow early in the game, as Evan Applewick's grand slam put Vineyard up 4-0 in the third inning. In the bottom of the seventh, Carter Bentley's RBI single and a wild pitch gave the Sharks a 6-0 advantage.
Vineyard will now advance to the semi-final round of the NECBL playoffs, as Bristol's summer has ended. On behalf of Bristol's writing team of Ryan McKenna and Gavin Murray, we want to thank the Blues fanbase for reading our stories and following us throughout the season. Before we know it, Bristol Blues baseball will be back very soon. We hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer, and as always, go Blues!
