Keene, NH – The Keene SwampBats defended Alumni Field from the North Shore Navigators on Wednesday evening by an 8-1 score. Keene’s pitching staff was the story in the game tonight, holding Navs hitters to just one run on three hits all night.
After a scoreless first inning from both starters, it was the SwampBats who got on the board first. In the bottom of the second, Marshall Lipsey (FAU) started things with a walk, and Zack Thompson (Gardner-Webb) kept it going with a single. A 4-6-3 double-play moved Lipsey to third with two outs, and Connor Peek (Georgetown) drove him in to make it 1-0.
North Shore tied the game up in the top of the fourth on back-to-back hits. Alex Marot (Charleston Southern) doubled to right field and Davis Baker (UPenn) knocked him in with a single to center. Keene would shortly break the tie in the bottom of the inning when Chandler Tuupo (Charleston Southern) ripped a two-run shot to put the SwampBats up 3-1.
The SwampBats added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth, with Michael O’Brien (Arkansas) joining the home run party, a two-run shot. In the eighth, Keene added their last three runs of the game, and once again, it was off another home run. Ripken Reese (Kent St) ripped his eighth homer of the season and made it 8-1.
Aydan Decker-Petty (Liberty) got the win for Keene, tossing five innings of one-run ball. Cole Yennaco (Merrimack College) took home the loss for North Shore, surrendering five runs in 4.2 innings. The SwampBats host the Upper Valley Nighthawks Thursday, while the Navigators face the Nighthawks on the road Friday afternoon.
North Adams SteepleCats vs. Vermont Mountaineers

Montpelier, VT- The Mountaineers hosted the SteepleCats for a mostly one-sided matchup in the case of the home team. In the bottom of the first, Sam Gates (George Washington) got things started for Vermont right away when he walked in Conlan Daniel (Cincinnati) to put the first run of the game on the board. In the bottom of the fourth, the Mountaineers would get a rally going when Brendan Buecker (Monmouth) walked in Ryan Foody (Manhattan) to put his team up 2-0. Joey Pagano (St Josephs) would follow up by hitting a two-RBI single to double the lead to 4-0. Sam Gates (George Washington) would strike again when he hit an RBI single, driving in Buecker to put the Mountaineers up 5-0.
North Adams wouldn’t go down quietly, as Nolan DeAndrade (Franklin Pierce) hit a two-run home run to put the SteepleCats down 5-2. Vermont improves to 14-25, while North Adams falls to 17-20.
