Upper Valley Nighthawks vs North Shore Navigators (Game One)
Final Score/7: Nighthawks 2, Navigators 5
Hartford, VT – The North Shore Navigators defeated the Upper Valley Nighthawks in game one of Thursday night’s doubleheader by a score of 5-2.
The Navs jumped on the board first in the top of the third inning, with Davis Baker (UPenn) ripping a RBI triple to center field. Sam Parks (Stonehill College) scored on the play and made it 1-0. Two batters later Jaydon Aukai Kea (Vanderbilt) also tallied an RBI extra base hit, a double to right, scoring Baker and making it 2-0.
Upper Valley answered with a run in the bottom of the inning with Anthony Brotz (Marist College) hitting an RBI groundout that scored Cameron Boardman (Hartford). North Shore was quick to add more runs to their lead in the fourth as Parks hit a sac-fly and Baker notched an RBI single, making it 4-1.
The Nighthawks got another run across in the bottom of the inning on a sac-fly off the bat of Joe Terranova (Southeast Missouri St). North Shore added one more insurance run in the seventh, also off a sac-fly. Nater Wachter (UConn) brought in the last run and ended it 5-2.
Cole Yennaco (Merrimack College) got the win for North Shore, while his teammate Sean Zaslaw (Bryant) got the save. Drew Koenen (Virginia) took home the loss for Upper Valley. The Nighthawks and Navigators will play game two later tonight.

Game Suspended after the fourth inning due to inclement weather: Nighthawks 9, Navigators 4
Hartford, VT – The Nighthawks early offense gave them a 9-4 lead before the game was suspended after the fourth inning on Thursday night against the Navigators.
Cole Fellows (Columbia), Kyle Neri (Rider), and Anthony Greco (William & Mary) all had multi-hit games at this point in the game with five RBIs combined between the three. Anthony Brotz (Marist College) also had two RBIs on one hit, and Luca Reyes (Florida International) had the last RBI as he was 1-for-1 with a walk.
Six different Navigators had a hit tallied in the shortened second game with Nater Wachter (UConn), Alec Welshans (La Salle), Marc Willi (UMass Amherst, and Conor Moriarty (Bowdoin) all having RBIs.
North Shore will head on the road to face the Vermont Mountaineers Friday night, while the Nighthawks resume on Saturday when they face the Bristol Blues on the road.
Mystic Schooners vs. Keene SwampBats
Final Score: Keene 15, Mystic 6
Keene, NH- The SwampBats hosted the Schooners for a game full of offense, much to the pleasure of the home crowd. Mystic got on top first when David Mendez (Vanderbilt) scored on a wild pitch to put Mystic on the board at 1-0. AJ Ashettino (Northeastern) followed up with an RBI groundout, and Luke Holland (North Carolina-Greensboro) capped off a massive rally with a three-run blast to put the Schooners on top 5-0 early in the game.
Keene answered right back in the bottom of the inning, starting when Marshall Lipsey scored on a Ty Mainolfi (Boston Col) RBI groundout to put the SwampBats down 5-1. Ripken Reese (Kent State) then hit a two-run shot to put Keene within two of Mystic at 5-3. The next inning, the SwampBats added onto their previous rally, starting when Ty Mainolfi (Boston Col) drove in two-runs on a single, tying the game at five apiece.
In the bottom of the fourth, Ripken Reese (Kent State) hit a sac fly, driving in the go-ahead run to give Keene the lead at 6-5. Nick Romano (Florida Atlantic) followed that up with a two-RBI single, increasing the score to 8-5.
In the top of the fifth, AJ Ashettino (Northeastern) showed life for the Schooners, hitting a solo home run to decrease the SwampBats’ lead to 8-6. In the bottom of the inning, Chandler Tuupo (Charleston Southern) drove in a run for Mystic on a sac fly, which was soon followed by a Jack Herring (East Carolina) three-run homer to blow the game wide open and put Keene on top 12-6.
The Swampbats weren’t done, and not for a while. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Chandler Tuupo (Charleston Southern) hit another sac fly, driving in a run to make the score 13-6. In the bottom of the eighth, Jack Herring (East Carolina) kept his monster performance rolling with an RBI single, and Marshall Lipsey (Florida Atlantic) scored on a wild pitch to put Keene up by a nine-run margin at 15-6.
The SwampBats took the win easily, sending home fans off with a positive attitude. Keene improves to 24-11, remaining at the top spot in the North Division, while Mystic falls to 15-20 at second to last in the South Division.
