Holyoke, MA - Valley Blue Sox Starting Pitcher Beau Elson had himself a productive day on the mound. Elson faced 15 batters and struck out five of them. He allowed only three hits, one run and zero walks through four innings of work.

Elson is a local Western Massachusetts native. He is from Hadley, MA and a sophomore at Fordham University. The Hadley native was selected to the 2025 New England Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game at the Maxfield Sports Complex in Upper Valley.

The 2025 NECBL All-Star made his fifth start tonight for Valley and his season stats are impressive. He’s pitched 22.2 innings, allowed 20 hits, 12 runs and 27 strike outs. For the Fordham Rams this past spring, Elson was the top arm coming out of the bullpen, making 22 appearances on the mound. The sophomore posted a 6-3 record with Rams, recording a 6.44 ERA in 50.1 innings with 50 hits allowed, 43 runs and 49 strikeouts.

He also learned a lot from his spring college season with Fordham. “I had the transition of becoming a closer/bullpen arm, so I had to learn how to be able to flip my brain on and off, coming out of the bullpen. Having composure is very important. That is something I talked to the upperclassmen on the team about.”

Valley’s Head Coach Endy Morales has been impressed with Elson this season. “I fought very hard for [Elson to be an All-Star] originally, but he deserves that All-Star bid,” Morales said. “Ultimately he throws with confidence and doesn’t second guess his talents. Elson is locked in to what he has to offer and he’s not so worried about the hitter.”

The Hadley native attributes his pitching success to getting ahead of the count. “The key has just been getting ahead, it helps turn really good hitters into below average hitters.”

Elson has also been enjoying his time with the Blue Sox this summer and has made great memories. “On the bus ride back from Newport [Valley won 6-5] there were a lot of good mafia [games] played.”

The sophomore is very excited about being selected to the 2025 NECBL All-Star Game. “I’m so pumped and excited,” Elson said. “It’s a lot of hard work that’s gone into this, so much sacrifice from my parents, they are the best.”
