SANFORD, ME - A day after a tough loss at North Adams, the Keene SwampBats headed to Sanford to take on the Mainers for the second time in under a week. As the offenses began to heat up, with a combined eight runs and three homers in the first three and a half innings, rain began to fall, and would not let up, forcing the game to be suspended, with Keene trailing 6-2.

RHP David Rodriguez (St. John’s) made his fifth start of the summer, but didn’t find his usual stride, allowing six runs in the first before being replaced on the mound by LHP Jayden Barroquiero (Seton Hall), who turned in two solid innings, allowing two hits and fanning three.

After weeks of success at the plate, Keene DH Ty Mainolfi (Boston College) popped his first home run of the summer in leadoff fashion, giving the Bats the lead. Sanford responded with six in their half of the first, but were held scoreless in the next two frames.

RF Jack Herring (ECU) blasted his third home run in the last week in the top of the third, and brought Keene to within four. Just before 8:00 PM, rain began to fall and the umpires made the decision to suspend the game

Tuesday’s suspended game will be completed on Thursday, July 10th, at Alumni Field at 4:30 PM as part of a modified doubleheader. The game will resume in the bottom of the fourth inning, with Sanford ahead 6-2. Keene’s regularly scheduled game against Sanford on Thursday will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one, and will be played as a seven-inning game. Both games will be streamed live on ESPN+.
