The Blues sent fans home happy with fireworks and a 4-2 win over the Danbury Westerners at Muzzy Field on the Fourth of July.

Joseph Duffield (Manhattan) got his third start of the season, tossing five innings with no earned runs and two strikeouts. Following Duffield's departure, Jackson Kossow (Iona) pitched three innings out of the bullpen, allowing one run. Carson Renner (Penn State) recorded the final three outs of the game to get his fourth save of the year.

Bristol got the scoring started in the bottom of the first, as a wild pitch allowed Luka Nomura (Fairfield) to score and make it 1-0, Blues. The very next inning, Alex Irizarry (Quinnipiac) had an RBI groundout to put Bristol up by two.

An error by Danbury's pitcher would bring another run across in the bottom of the fourth to give the Blues a 3-0 lead. Leading by two in the bottom of the eighth, Nate Lincoln came through with a clutch RBI single to put the Blues back up by three.

With the win, the Blues improve to 16-9 on the summer, having won seven of their last 10 games. They remain two games behind the first-place Newport Gulls (18-7) in the South Division.

The Blues aim to extend their winning streak on Saturday night as they travel to Alumni Field to face the Keene SwampBats (17-8), who currently hold first place in the North Division. First pitch will be at 6:30.
