Bee Jays Win the Weekend Before Four Day Break

For the seventh straight year, the Liberal Bee Jays win their 4th of July Game. The B.J.'s topped the Dodge City A's 13-8 in front on a big crowd at Brent Gould Field on Friday night.
The A's came ready to play scoring single runs in the first and second for a 2-0 advantage. Dodge City walks paved the way for a five run Bee Jay second. DC walked four and hit one. Matt Bernath laced a two RBI single. Drew Grego was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Justin Hudson legged out a two RBI double to left center for the 5-2 lead. Liberal added three in the fourth. Drew Grego doubled with one out. After a walk, Carson Willis connected on a towering three run home run to left for the 8-2 lead. Dodge City crept back in the game with single runs in the fifth and sixth to make it 8-4. The B.J.'s weren't done scoring two in the sixth for a 10-4 advantage. After two walks, Jack Ryan ripped a two RBI double off the bag at third. Liberal tacked on three insurance runs in the seventh. Drew Grego, Justin Hudson, and Carson Willis singled. Grego's single produced a run. Willis singled and Dodge City threw wildly at third allowing another run to score. Drew Garcia hit a sac fly.
Liberal out-hit Dodge City 10-7. Dodge City committed two errors and Liberal had one. Drew Grego was Epic Touch Player of the Game going 3-5 with two doubles. Justin Hudson and Carson Willis added two hits a piece. Jason Davis pitched five innings for the win with five strikeouts. Braedon Whipple went three hit less innings with five strikeouts.
Dodge is 10-15 overall and 8-8 in the Rock Mountain. The Bee Jays are 11-9 overall and 9-9 in the Rocky Mountain. The same two teams play Saturday night at 7pm at Cavalier Field in Dodge City on 1270 and 92.3.
