The Bristol Blues picked up a 3-0 road victory over the Upper Valley Nighthawks Friday night to snap a two-game losing streak.

A Nate Lincoln (Fairfield) single in the top of the second opened up the scoring and gave Bristol a 1-0 lead. For the next five innings that would remain the score. Noah McMahon (Wofford) provided a quality start for Bristol throwing five shutout innings, only allowing six hits, three walks while recording four strikeouts. McMahon now has a 1.50 ERA over 18 innings pitched in four appearances.

Nate Isler (Dartmouth) was also spinning a gem of a game on the mound for the Nighthawks. Isler’s final line was five innings pitched, seven hits, one earned run, one walk and six strikeouts.

With Bristol holding onto a one run lead late in the game, Blues Head Coach Gregg Hunt made the decision to go to Houston Tomlinson (Texas A&M) for the rest of the game. The decision proved to be a good one, Tomlinson slammed the door shut, only allowing two hits, one walk and striking out four over the final four innings to complete the shutout. Scott Gell (Stony Brook) singled in the top of the eighth to drive in two insurance runs for Bristol, as they went on to win by a final of 3-0.

The Blues improve to 12-8 on the season and are back in action Sunday night at Muzzy Field when they take on the North Adams SteepleCats at 5 p.m.
