Muskegon, MI: The Muskegon Clippers (1-8) fell one more time on Sunday in a 9-2 loss to the

Flag City Sluggers (3-6) on Sunday, June 15th. The Clipper bats could not find a rhythm and the Sluggers obtained a third straight win, and put the Clips in a four game skid.

The game was within a small margin 1-0 until the fifth inning on, with the Sluggers scoring eight runs in innings five through nine. Sluggers cashed in nine runs on 13 hits, four Clipper errors, four stolen bases, and a sac fly. Of the 13 hits, four were doubles and one was a triple from Harrison Engskov.

Each team used a total of four pitches in the Father’s Day matchup, with Bryce Stenzel getting the win. Stenzel completed six innings with as many strikeouts while allowing four hits, one earned run and zero walks. Ben Best, Jacob Sams and Shamus Gallo each ate up an inning to close the game. Connor Freeman went five innings with six strikeouts, four earned runs and six hits. Alex Hardacre, Winston Delp and Matt Heflen came in relief.

Jack Bakus had a two hit day for the Clips, and upped his overall batting average to .304 with one RBI. The other Clipper run came from a solo home-run from Luke Noack in the ninth. Additional Clipper knocks came from Ethan Delgado, Nolan Zajac, and Connor Kelly.

Sluggers slowly buried the Clippers by the plate production, and could not respond as easily as the Saturday game.

The Clips will be back in action this week against the Southern Ohio Copperheads on Tuesday and Wednesday (doubleheader) in Athens, OH. Next home game will be Friday for a series with the Xenia Scouts.
