Two student-athletes were recognized for their outstanding efforts on the diamond in the final week of the 2024 HCBL regular season. Sag Harbor’s Jack Gold (Pomona-Pitzer) was named as the Pepsi Player of the Week while Southampton’s Kyle Kearns (West Chester) was selected as the ACE Hardware Pitcher of the Week.

Gold in the final week of the HCBL regular season hit .450 batting 9-for-20 with a pair of home runs and 12 RBI. In a doubleheader against the South Shore Clippers on July 21st, Gold finished the day with a home run, seven RBI, and three stolen bases.

Gold finished the regular season as the second triple-crown winner in the history of the HCBL with a .450 batting average along with nine home runs and 34 RBI. Gold’s .450 batting average is officially recognized as the all-time single-season record in that category.

Kearns pitched five shutout innings for the Breakers on July 21st against the Shelter Island Bucks allowing just one hit with six strikeouts and a walk in a 5-0 Southampton win.
