The West All-Stars faced off against the East All-Stars in an exciting matchup on Monday July 8th at historic Innovative Field in Rochester, NY for the 2024 NYCBL All-Star Game. The West took an early lead, scoring four runs in the first four innings. Their leadoff hitter JP Pennella of the Oilers showcased his skills at the plate and basepaths (3 Hits, 2 Runs and 1 SB) and was named the game’s MVP.
The East team fought back, narrowing the gap with a run in the fifth inning. However, the West’s strong pitching and solid defense held them off. In the end, the West secured a 4-2 victory over the East, delighting over 400 fans in attendance.
The West’s strong defense was led by AJ Brotz who was named JH Pro Gloves Most Outstanding Defensive Player of the Game with two incredible sliding catches while playing second base. Starting pitcher Charlie Yaeger of the West set the tone and was named JH Pro Gloves Most Outstanding Pitcher.
Despite the loss, the East players displayed remarkable talent, and the game served as a celebration of baseball excellence. Innovative Field provided a fantastic backdrop for this thrilling All-Star showdown.
