Upper Valley Dominant in 11-1 Win Over Sanford

Montpelier, VT – It was a tough loss yesterday against the Vermont Mountaineers. The Nighthawks lost 4-2 at Montpelier Recreation Field. It started off as a scoreless game into the 4th, with Upper Valley’s starter Chris Mattioli keeping the game tight.
Vermont struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo home run by Matthew Jensen. They added two more runs in the fifth with an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly, pushing the lead to 3-0. Upper Valley responded in the seventh inning with a Gehrig Frei triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by DJ Pacheco to put the Nighthawks on the board. Unfortunately, the rally wasn't enough, and the Mountaineers won the game 4-2.
The Nighthawks will play the Sanford Mainers on Sunday, June 16th. Upper Valley has a 2-0 record against the Mainers and hopes to keep the streak alive. Come check out the game at Maxfield Sports Complex today at 5 PM.
