 NEWPORT, RI: Nick Lima, the father of Newport Gulls Broadcast Network approached Newport Gulls General Manager Chuck Paiva in 2004 to request permission for Lima's high school television production club, the Tigers TV Crew to tape games. Lima, as a senior began the Tigers TV Crew in late 2002 at Tiverton High School with a group of friends. Originally named the "Baseball Broadcasting Club, the crew a reboot of the school's long-defunct THS Video Club used old equipment that had been collecting dust in the school's library media center since the late 1980's and 90's. In 2004 Nick partnered with Cox Communications to broadcast Gulls games over cable television expanding the fan base and team branding.

   As the league expanded into video streaming games live, Nick's broadcast team was the pioneer and leader in the NECBL. Nick expanded the Gulls broadcast to have pre and post-game interviews and updated the equipment to have the best production in collegiate summer baseball. Under Nick's direction, the NECBL grew its broadcast network utilizing Nick and his team to broadcast All-Star Games and the NECBL Championship Series. Nick was a true professional always wearing a suit and tie while sporting his signature fedora. Today, the Newport Gulls Broadcast is recognized as the best in summer college baseball thanks to Nick Lima. 

   Nick's history with Newport includes 2004-2016 Play by Play Broadcaster, 2006-2010 Director of Broadcast Operations, 2012-2016 Director of Media Relations, 2016 Director of Baseball Operations, and was named NECBL All-Star Broadcaster in 2009 and 2010. Nick Lima is currently the Registrar / Director of Elections for the City of Cranston Canvassing Authority, serving his fourth two-year term since first being appointed in January 2017.  Nick resides in Coventry, RI with his wife Hillary.

The Newport Gulls, members of the 13-team New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded as the Rhode Island Gulls in 1998 in Cranston, R.I., before moving to Newport in 2001.
