Jun 23.23 - In dramatic fashion, the UBC Thunder have clinched their 1st ever BCPBL Premier Championship by defeating the host Parksville Royals in extra innings by a score of 8-7.

 

In the top of the 7th, the Royals battled back from a 3 run deficit to take a 1 run lead going into the bottom the 7th off Thunder pitcher Robert Orr.  With the Thunder down by 1, with 1 out, and with pitcher Robert Orr needing to hit, he came through with the game tying HOME RUN in the bottom of the 7th inning.

 

With the Royals unable to push across a run in the top of the 8th inning, the Thunder's Calvin Gully drew a walk with 1 out, followed by a Rico Domingo single to send Gully to 2nd.  Down to their last out, Oliver Clements hit a hard line drive to CF scoring Gully from 2nd with the winning run and 2023 PBL Championship!

 

Congratulation to the players, coaches and families of the UBC Thunder.  

 

The PBL wishes the very best to ALL graduating players in 2023 as their leave their home towns for new and great collegiate experiences.
