    Newport RI: The Newport Gulls welcome Mike Basile! Mike Basile comes to the Newport Gulls with a plethora of experience in the sports industry. Most recently, he has worked the NCAA Division One scene covering baseball, hockey, lacrosse, and basketball among other sports as a play-by-play announcer, color commentator, and sideline reporter. Prior to that, he spent three years in professional hockey, working as the Director of Operations and Media/Broadcast with the Delaware Thunder of the FPHL. He has spent time working with junior-level hockey teams in Philadelphia and Minnesota, where he also hosted his own radio program. He has always had a passion for sports and communicating the field he loves.

   Basile Can't wait to get started and stated, "I am very excited to join the Gulls! They have set the bar incredibly high and I hope to continue raising it." Having worked three years in professional hockey Basile feels that will be a big help to the team. " I live for the fast-paced environment, and am ready for the crazy world of summer baseball!" Basile is grateful for the opportunity, "I am very thankful, and want to send a thank you to Chuck Paiva, Chris Patsos, Mike Falcone, and Tom Lima." The Gulls and Basile are ready for a great summer of NECBL action!
