Hawks and Dukes Battle for Conference Supremacy

Date:  Source: OJHL Trenton Golden Hawks

What a week!  What a Team! What a Fanbase!  Is all that I can say today.

After the Trenton Golden Hawks scored an OT series winner In Toronto on Sunday night, vs. the league best Toronto Jr. Canadiens, in game #7,  I honestly wasn't sure how much the boys, and our die hard fans had left in the tank, going into Wednesday night's Game 1 of the Conference finals, but apparently there is lot's left for both.

The Trenton Golden Hawks played a very strategic defensive minded game, and came away with with a huge 3-1 victory, to grab game 1, in the best of 7 conference finals series, versus the Wellington Dukes.  Goaltender Ben Bonisteel was solid between the pipes, especially in the first opening minutes, against a ramped up Wellington offence, to settle the boys down, and give our guys a few moments to get going offensively.

All goals were scored in the third period, and coach Dupont and his staff were very proud of the team's commitment to the game plan.  Trenton successfully killed off 5 penalty kills, and looked very composed in doing so.

Trenton scored 3 different types of goals, which surely show us how versatile this team is.  They scored a 5 on 5 goal (Grube), a power play goal (O'Marra), and an empty netter (Podolski).  The Duke dome was absolutely full of Hawks fans, and it did kinda feel like a home game.

Speaking of home games, your Hawks are back home, this Saturday for game 2 of the series, with puck drop taking place at 7:30 pm.  Be sure to grab your tickets as they are going fast!

As per usual, all facilities/services will be open, so be sure to grab some merchandise, buy a 50/50, visit the Canteen and the Kinsmen Bar, and buy the kiddos, young and old their chuck a pucks.  But most importantly, bring those noise makers!!!

See you Saturday fans, and Go Hawks Go!!!
