2023-24 End of Season Awards

SYRACUSE, NY – The Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League has announced the end of season awards for the 2022-23 season. Rhode Island’s Curits Briggs has won Player of the Year, Niagara’s Lucas Fancy has won Rookie of the Year, and Niagara’s Tom Mooradian has been named the ESCHL Coach of the Year. These awards are voted on by the eight head coaches in the conference.
Curtis Briggs finished his 2022-23 campaign with a 18-6-1 record going 8-4-0 in ESCHL conference games. His 18 overall wins were a conference best and good for 6th in all of the ACHA. Briggs also finished with an outstanding 2.36 GAA and .933 save percentage and added 2 shutouts. The junior from Foster, RI also won ESCHL Rookie of the Year honors last season.
Niagara’s Lucas Fancy finished his rookie season with 21 points (9-12-21) in 30 games. His 9 goals ranked 4th in the conference amongst rookies. Fancy ended his 1st season in the ACHA with 7 points in his final 5 regular season games including a 5 point weekend in a pivotal series against Stony Brook University at the end of February.
Niagara’s Tom Mooradian was named the ESCHL Coach of the Year in his 3rd season as the Purple Eagles Head Coach. Mooradian led NU to an 11-2-1 conference record which was good for 2nd in the ESCHL in the team’s inaugural season in the conference. Niagara migrated to the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League from the Northeast Collegiate Hockey League before the start of the 2022-23 season. Tom’s Purple Eagles also finished with a 22-8-1 overall record and were ranked 10th in the country in the final ACHA ranking of the season.
