Blades Drop One to the Conference Leaders

Date:  Source: OJHL Oakville Blades

The Oakville Blades squared off against the visiting Collingwood Blues in a game that was supposed to happen in December, but was rescheduled due to poor weather conditions. As a result, this game was played on a Tuesday (January 24th), with a rare 2:30 PM start, so we understand if you couldn’t make it out to this one. With the Blues being the powerhouse team they are, it would prove to be too much to handle for Oakville as the Blues would topple them 4-0.

Although the game didn’t result in a score the team is happy with, the Blades looked much better then they have in the past against this team. Collingwood sits at 1st in the conference and 2nd in the league, so putting up improved performances against them is a good sign. Another good sign in this contest was Sam Edmands. The Blades backup netminder was called in to start this one and only let in 3 goals on 49 shots against, very impressive numbers. Without the work of Edmands in net, this could have been a much different game. It is an encouraging sign from the team that their backup can post great performances against a top team in the league.

An action packed weekend is headed your way next. The Blades play Friday, Saturday and Sunday making that 3 games in 3 days. First, they will head to Pickering, then it’s back to Oakville to host Aurora and finally the team will make the trek up to Collingwood to finish the weekend. Start times are 7:30 PM in Pickering, 7:00 PM in Oakville and 2:00 PM in Collingwood. Be sure to catch as much hockey as you can in this action packed weekend!
